October Freebie

Happy Fall Everyone!
We had a beautiful weekend with highs in the upper 70’s! Now its back to chilly and rainy… Hard to wake up on a Monday morning with gloomy rain.

This week is exciting though because it is my birthday! My special day is October 1st and I’ve always loved being a fall baby. To celebrate, I’m giving out an October freebie! I created an October Homework Calendar for my students so they can practice skills at home each night. I am using it with my pizza hut “book-it” certificates.

I entered in things I thought would be relevant for this time of the year. I hope it works for your classroom too! Thanks for the page view.

Apple Week!

I am so happy that fall begins tomorrow! I spent the weekend at my cousin’s beautiful wedding at a place in Moorhead, MN called Rustic Oaks. MOST BEAUTIFUL VENUE EVER! It was fun to have caramel apples and pumpkin pie at their desert bar! We also spent some time out at the beautiful bonfire! I LOVE FALL! J Here is a picture of her beautiful, rustic, fall wedding.

Even though the weekend was magical, now it’s back to the daily grind. Apple week is here! We will be doing many apple activities over the next few days including my newest beginning sound matching game.

ABC Apples works on matching a capital and lowercase set to a picture with a beginning sound. Check it out here!

We will also be reading many Johnny Appleseed books and doing activities from Kindergarten Smiles Apple Unit. (GREAT RESOURCE!)

Our classroom families are bringing in green, red, and yellow apples in for a shared snack. We will be graphing our favorite apples. Perfect to go along with the graphing we are working on in Math Expressions. By the way, I am loving my new school and colleagues! A LOT to learn and figure out still but I’m starting to get the hang of it all J

I hope you have a fabulous Apple Week!

Welcome!

Welcome!
Welcome to my teaching blog! This is my 3rd year teaching Kindergarten and I absolutely love it. I am a Minnesota teacher and mother to two little ones. I am starting at a new school this year so I am experiencing a bit of readjustment right now. This summer I had the opportunity to teach in a new program providing an extra academic boost for children entering Kindergarten and also providing an emphasis in social-emotional health. My blogger name is xoxokindergarten because I believe a big part of Kindergarten is beginning a love for learning. I also believe all children should feel loved, safe, and worthy.

I am currently working on creating resources to use during Daily 5, Guided Reading, Math Workstations and lessons to use that align with the Kindergarten ELA Common Core State Standards.

Here are some resources I have created to use in my Kindergarten classroom.

Beginning, Middle, End Reader Response Handwriting Journal                                               I Spy Letters    Alphabet Cards        Vowel Matching Cards

Thank you for stopping by and enjoy! Please leave feedback on the TPT resources as I am just starting out. Thank you J
